Is your school peanut- or nut-free? Does your child have a food allergy? Are you wondering what’s safe to send in to school for a birthday treat or special school snack? Here are five recipes for sweet treats without nuts or peanuts. That is cause for celebration!
Note: If using prepackaged foods, be sure to check the label before purchase to double check that the item is peanut- and nut-free.
1. Fruit Kebabs
Both healthy and fun, fruit kebabs satisfy grown-ups and kids. Try one of these kebab variations for an easy, kid-pleasing party snack.
Cupcakes are nostalgia and happiness, wrapped up in pleated paper. Some options for safe cupcakes are:
- Allergy-Free Mixes: There are some companies, such as Cherrybrook Kitchen, that produce cake and frosting mixes in dedicated peanut-free facilities.
- Peanut Free Bakeries: A growing number of peanut-free bakeries are popping up in larger cities, so it is possible, though often less convenient, to find peanut and nut-free cupcakes that are made for you.
- Homemade: You can also make your own delicious, peanut, nut and egg-free cupcakes using our Lemon Vanilla Cake recipe. This recipe is also free of dairy, soy, and eggs.
Remember gelatin blocks from your childhood? Try this version, free of artificial colors and flavors as well as all major allergens.

Layer parfait in clear plastic cups:
- Dirt and Worms: Chocolate pudding layered with crunched Oreos and topped with gummi worms. Eeeeeeew. Yum.
- Tropical Paradise: Chunks of pineapple, mango, and orange layered with lime yogurt and sprinkled with coconut flakes. Top cup with a paper umbrella.
- Red, White, and Blue: Strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream.
- Peach Crumble: Peach slices, vanilla yogurt, and safe granola, such as Enjoy Life Foods Cinnamon Crunch Granola.
- Strawberry Cheesecake: Fresh sliced strawberries layered with cream cheese frosting and safe graham cracker crumbs.
6. Rice Krispie Treats
Rice Krispie Treats are great desserts for kids with multiple food allergies. They are peanut, nut, egg, dairy, and wheat-free.
- Krispie Cookies: Follow our video. Pat the treats firmly into a 9 x 13 pan. Cool and cut into shapes using cookie cutters. Decorate as desired.
- Krispie Cake: Make a double batch of treats and press into well-greased nine inch cake pans. Frost and decorate like regular cake. Surprise!
- Krispie Lollipops: Create Krispie Cookies. Cut circles while slightly warm. Gently push a popsicle stick into each treat. Wrap in cellophane or plastic wrap and tie ribbon around handle.
