Oral Allergy Syndrome

Friday July 20, 2007

Oral allergy syndrome is a type of allergy most associated with raw fruits and vegetables. It is generally caused by cross-reactions between pollen and food proteins. Melons and apples are two of the foods most associated with the oral allergy syndrome, but there are quite a few foods that can cause the syndrome. Symptoms include itching and tingling in the mouth after eating affected foods; in rare cases, people affected with oral allergy syndrome may eventually experience anaphylaxis.
