If the zombies are beating a path to your kitchen this Halloween, it may be because of the wonderful smell of baking mummy bones wafting from your oven. Using pre-made pizza dough and sauce makes this snack monstrously simple.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes
Yield: 12 big bones
Ingredients:
1 package premade gluten-free (or other safe) pizza dough
1/4 cup additional safe flour
2 T olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 cup of your favorite tomato-based pasta sauce
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Divide bread dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece out into a foot-long rope. Lay on baking sheet and use your fingers to shape both ends of the rope into a rough “V” shape, to mimic the shape of the end of a bone.
Brush each “bone” with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder.
Bake for 15 minutes. Gluten-free flour does not brown in the same way that wheat flour does, check the package for advice on determining when the breadstick bones are done.
Remove from oven and wrap in “mummy wrappings” – a white linen towel or cut-up paper towels.
Just before serving, heat spaghetti sauce in a microwave-safe bowl for 1-2 minutes, until warm. Allow your guests to choose a bone and dip it in blood sauce before eating.
