Eczema

Eczema is a red, scaly, itchy rash.

Definition:

A type of skin rash often associated with hay fever or asthma. Eczema is scaly, red, and itchy, and may be accompanied by blisters surrounded by red or discolored areas due to scratching in the affected areas. It is most common in children under age five and appears most frequently around the knees, elbows, cheeks, and extremities. ("Atopic dermatitis" is the more correct term for this type of rash.)
