Fish Allergies

Monday July 16, 2007

While fish is one of the easier allergens to recognize on food labels, fish allergies, like other seafood allergies, can be quite severe. They are also similar to shellfish allergies in that they are more likely than most other common food allergies to arise for the first time in adulthood.

(3) Charlene says:

My daughter has severe allergies to fish. She can’t eat fish or touch any surface that has come in contact with fish. She has had this allergy since age 2. She is now 23. She stops breathing, has severe low blood pressure and hives. Her allergist warned her of even being in a restaurant where fish is prepared due to ventilation or cross contamination.
